6 Volleyball Players Selected to All-Southern Conference Teams

Six players from the Palm Beach State College Volleyball team were selected to the All-Southern Conference teams. Madison Monahan and Sydney Ashner were honored with first-team selections, while Aleksandra Hamuda, Madison Barton, Martha Torres and Bella Magrino made the second team.

Madison Monahan, an outside hitter and defensive specialist, led the Panthers with 194 kills. On defense, Monahan had 207 digs and 32 blocks. Monahan signed with Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, New York, and she will play for the Terriers next season.

Sophomore setter Sydney Ashner was also selected to the All-Southern Conference first team. Ashner was one of the top setters in Florida—her total of 9.57 assists per game was the fourth highest in Florida. She set up a majority of the Panthers' attacks, with assists on 794 of the team's 840 kills. Last month, Ashner committed to Cal State Fullerton, an NCAA D1 program in the Big West Conference.

Four Panthers were selected to the All-Southern Conference second team. (Hamuda, Barton, Torres, Magrino) Aleksandra Hamuda recorded 162 kills and 227 digs.

Freshman Madison Barton also contributed on both offense and defense with 161 kills, 203 digs and 69 blocks.

Middle blocker Martha Torres earned a second-team spot with a team-leading 89 blocked shots (23 solo, 66 assisted). Combined with her 113 kills, Torres totaled 169 points over the season.

Fellow middle blocker Bella Magrino received a second-team selection with an equally impressive defensive effort. She had 88 total blocked shots (22 solo, 66 assisted).
