Women's Basketball Starts Off the New Year with Wins

Lake Worth, FL -- Women's Basketball starts 2020 off with two straight wins, which included a big win over conference-rival Indian River to open Southern Conference play, 72-64.

Against Indian River, the team was largely dominant, but put them away with a brillliant 4th quarter, which saw the team outscore the opposition 16-9. The starters Caleese Ramirez, Alma Danielsson, Izzy Allen, Amaya Small, and Maria Benitez-Zayas all scored double-figures. Ramirez led the team with 18 points and 8 rebounds, falling just 2 rebounds shy of a double-double. Danielsson and Ramirez combined to shoot over 50% from beyond the 3-point line.

The team remains undefeated in conference play.


Playing in the 2nd game of their back-to-back, the Panthers took on Florida National JV. The team got off to a great start outscoring the opposition 20-8 in the first quarter, which included a 14-0 run to start the game. Alma Danielsson was the leading scorer for the Panthers, scoring 14. She was 4-7 from beyond the arc. Maria Benitez-Zayas finished the game with 12 points and Izzy Allen was third on the team in scoring finishing with 10 points. Freshman forward Sade Bass finished with 7 rebounds, her second-highest total of the season.
