Women's Basketball Gives Back to the Community

Lake Worth, FL -- The 2018-19 Panther Women's Basketball Team gave back to the community in a big way this past Saturday, March 30, by donating their time at the Palm Beach County Food Bank.

The Panthers were inspired to participate in the college's 3rd Annual 'Day of Service' in which volunteers were dispatched to help sort donated food at the Palm Beach County Food Bank. Volunteers worked 2-hour shifts and during the 2 hours that the team participated, they made 648 meals, which was enough to fill more than 18 boxes to be distributed to those in need. The girls even took some time out of their busy day to pose for a few pictures showcasing the hard work they put in.

The event allowed for the always-needed team bonding that may not show up on a 'stat sheet' or in the 'box score', but clearly has an affect on the team's cohesiveness and communication both on and off the court. Assistant Coach Mike Yousefian took a moment to reflect on the impact of the day's events, "it was all about working together as a team and helping those less fortunate than us".

We here at Palm Beach State College Athletics applaud the team for volunteering their time and doing good deeds for the community.
