Men's Basketball Wins a Close One Against Hillsborough

In the final seconds, PBSC Men's Basketball edges Hillsborough Community College 59-57.

With the game tied at 57-57, David Aphkhazava, a red-shirt sophomore from the Republic of Georgia, received the inbound pass with just over eight seconds left. The Hillsborough defense pressed down on Aphkhazava, but he still managed to find a seam down the side of the court. With two defenders draped all over him, Aphkhazava went the length of the court and made the game-winning layup with 0.8 seconds remaining.

Palm Beach outscored Hillsborough 39-34 in the 2nd half to erase a 23-20 deficit going into the half.

Aphkhazava led the Panthers with 14 points while Gavin Antoine finished second on the team with 12. Both Aphkhazava and Antoine shot 50% from the floor.

Phillip Smith led the group with 8 rebounds, which included an impressive 4 offensive boards. He also finished third on the team with 9 points scored.
