Men's Basketball Loses Close Game vs. Eastern Florida

Men's Basketball fell to 0-3 on the season with losses against Eastern Florida, Chipola College, and Santa Fe.

In the opening game of the season, Men's Basketball traveled to Melbourne, FL to take on a tough Eastern Florida club led by coach Jeremy Shulman. The Panthers trailed 30-34 at the half, untilmately falling 58-60. The Panthers outscored the Titans 28-26 in the game's second half. The Panthers had a chance in the last seconds down by two, but a missed half court shot off the backboard assured victory for the home team.

Keith Jackson led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points off the bench. Phillip Smith finished second with 13 points to go along with five rebounds. Gavin Antoine scored 10 and led the team with six boards.

Against Chipola, the visiting Indians came out with a dominant opening half, outscoring the Panthers 24-38. The Panthers buckled down defensively in the second half, but Chipola's size and strength proved difficult to handle. Palm Beach would fall 51-69. Khalil Turner led the team with 16 points. Phillip Smith, Gavin Antoine, and Carl Bigord each had at least eight points. Antoine led the team with seven rebounds.

On Saturday, Palm Beach traveled to Gainesville, FL to take on the Santa Fe Saints. Freshman Shaquille McElveen scored his first collegiate points, finishing with four on the night. Matthew Allman led the team with 13 points and six rebounds. Keith Jackson finished second in scoring with 11 points. Jackson made 4-6 from the floor and made an impressive 75% of shots from beyond the 3-point line.

The Panthers will travel to Marianna, FL  for a re-match with Chipola next Thursday January 28 at 8:00 ET.
