Baseball Finishes Regular Season as #3 Seed, Qualifies for Regionals

Palm Beach State College's Baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a 25-19 record.  In Sun-Lake Conference play, the Panthers went 16-14, good enough for 3rd place.  By finishing in 3rd, the Panthers qualified for the FCSAA/Region 8 DII Baseball Tournament.   The Panthers will face #2 seed St. John's River at 2pm on Thursday May 4th.  Top ranked, and host, Pasco-Hernando and #4 seed South Florida State College are the other teams that qualified for the region tournament.  For live stream info and updates, please follow the Region Championship page.

During the regular season, the Panthers had some individual honors as well.  Catcher Caden Marsters and Designated Hitter/1st Baseman Kevin Hirsch were both named to the All-Sun-Lakes 1st Team.  Marsters hit .362 with 5 home runs and 27 runs batted in.  Behind the plate, Marsters threw out 12 would-be base stealers.  Hirsch was even better at the plate.  Hirsch hit .325 while having a team best 12 home runs and 44 runs batted in.

Infielder Skyler Schulz and Outfielders Gavin Bogdanchik and Anthony Ruiz were named to the 2nd team All-Sun-Lakes Conference.  Schulz hit .320 at the plate with 7 home runs, 25 runs batted in, and scored 42 times.  Bogdanchik, who also is a catcher, is hitting .331 with 3 home runs and 21 runs batted in.  Ruiz also has 3 home runs, but has 31 runs batted in and hit .324 at the plate.
