Baseball Scores 16 Runs in Shortened Game
Palm Beach State Baseball scores 16 runs, the second straight game in which the team has scored 16 or more.
The Panthers trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the 4th. PBSC would plate 6 in the inning to take a 7-2 lead. Luis Castillo led off the inning with a walk and scored o ne batter later on a Caden Marsters double to center field. Castillo would advance to third on the throw and came home to score after a well placed bunt by Nick Fusco down the third base line. Nick Fusco would later come in to score on a wild pitch. The Panthers would score 3 more runs on a single, sacrifice fly, and error in the inning.
Elev8 Academy would add one in the top of the 5th to cut the lead to 7-3. Caden Marsters would andwer back in the bottom half of the inning with his first collegiate home run.
Palm Beach would break the game wide open as the offense plated 8 runs in the 6th. Sean Arnal lead off the inning with a stand up double. Next batter, Albert Espinosa, scored Arnal on a single up the middle. The Panthers would plate 3 more runs on 2 walks and an error before Sean Arnal would come up for the 2nd time in the inning and slapped a single down the 3rd base line to score 2 more. John Rodriguez would score on a wild pitch for the 8th and final run of the inning.
Elev8 Academy wuld go 1-2-3 in the top of the 7th to force the "run rule", ending the game 16-3.
Sean Arnal was the offensive leader on the afternoon. Sean was a perfect 4-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Albert Espinosa tied Arnal for the team-high on the afternoon with 3 RBI.
Ben Sacks earned the start for Palm Beach and surrendered 2 runs on 0 hits and struck out 7 over 4 innings of work. Bryce Pratt finished off the final 3 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 3.
