Baseball Earns Big Victory Over Miami Dade

An outstanding pitching performance by starting pitcher Ethan Petric propelled the Panthers to a 5-2 victory over rival Miami Dade.

Petric tossed a complete game, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and stuck out 1. The Panthers needed that kind of a performance after a string of losses dating back to last Tuesday.

Panthers took an early lead on a sacrifice fly by Dakota Gaillard in the 3rd inning. Miami Dade tied the game at 1-1 in the 4th. After retiring the first two batters, Petric allowed a double and the next batter reached on an error allowing the runner to score.

PBSC struck back in the top of the 5th. Billy Poure singled home Sal Grinstead to re-take the lead 2-1. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Jarret Bickel drew a walk, increasing the lead to 3-1. Miami Dade countered with one of their own in the bottom of the inning as they drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Tristan Moore doubled in a run in the top of the 7th. Armani Davis, subbing in for Justin Tew in the 6th, drove home Sal Grinstead on a single in inning number 8. Grinstead reached on a triple, his 2nd triple of the day.

Ethan Petric retired the side in order to end the 9th.

Panthers travel back to Palm Beach on Thursday to take on Miami dade at 3:00 ET.
