Beach Volleyball Earns 1st Wins In Program History

PBSC Beach Volleyball debuted in spectacular fashion as they knock off Lake-Sumter 5-0 and State College of Florida 4-1.

State College of Florida was one the pre-season favorites for top team in the state.

Against Lake-Sumter, the Palm Beach "1's" Angelina Botolino and Lola Vidamour defeated the Lake-Sumter 1st pair 21-14, and 21-14. The 2nd pair, Nina Vallesi and Ashlyn Banton defeated the Lake-Sumter 2nd Pair 21-18 and 21-10. Palm Beach's 3rd pair, Mady Koons and Dena Otte went 3 sets, but won in a decisive 3rd set 17-15. The Palm Beach 4th pair of Rita Gonzalez-Cuevas Campos and Amy Young defeated the Lake-Sumter 4th pair 21-12 and 21-17. Lake-Sumter did not sponsor a 5th pair, thus forfeiting the final matchup.

Against the State College of Florida, in perhaps the most entertaining matchup on the day, was the Palm Beach 1's of Angelina Botolino and Lola Vidamour versus the SCF 1's Kayla David and Yeva Serdiuk. While the matchup resulted in PBSC's only loss on the afternoon, it was nonetheless the most spirited match of all. Emotions were high as the best of the best went at each other. Lola and Angelina took set one 21-16. However, SCF took set two by a score of 21-16. The 3rd set was back and forth with both teams trading two sets of points. Ultimately, PBSC fell 15-13. The good news is that the rest of the matches ended in PBSC's favor. The Palm Beach 2's defeated SCF 23-21 and 22-20. The Palm Beach 3's won 21-12 and 21-13. The Palm Beach 4's won 21-13 and 21-7. Last but not least, the Palm Beach 5's won 22-20 and 21-10.

All in all, a very successful day. The Panthers now lead the region with a 2-0 start. They will travel to Tavares, FL on March 4 to take on St. Johns River at 1:00.
