BlueWave Volleyball Rolls into first win of the season

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) volleyball took to the road this past weekend to compete at the Palm Beach State College (PBSC) volleyball tournament in Lake Worth, FL.

FSCJ took on tournament host PBSC on Saturday at 1:00pm. The team had a slow start in the first set and gained momentum through the following two, but it wasn't enough. FSCJ would fall short in three sets.

Day two of the tournament found the FSCJ BlueWave ready to face South Florida State College (SFSC) Panthers. FSCJ came out to play and captured the first set 25-20. The win propelled the BlueWave to pull away the next two sets 25-20, 25-23 to sweep the Panthers. Freshman, Martina Soler Marti led the offense with no errors and was an aggressive threat on the front row at .370. Freshman, Stefania Del Carmen also exceeded in the game with a .375 and 6 blocks. Sophomore, Elaina Reynolds shined with 6 aces, 9 digs, 16 SR, and 8 kills.

The win is the first for this season for the FSCJ volleyball team and newly hired head coach Chelsea Hinck.

"The team is starting to adapt to the season and learn what it means to execute." said Coach Hinck. "It was important for our confidence level to get that first win. It was even more exciting to do it on the road. Our team is talented and we have potential to keep being successful when we come together."

The BlueWave Volleyball team returns home to host three back to back to back home matches this week. The team will face State College of Florida at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday September 28th, St. Petersburg College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday September 29th and Pasco-Hernando State College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
