Palm Beach State spoils 39 point night for Quimby

The Miami Dade Sharks women's basketball team lost to Palm Beach State 75-72. The Lady Sharks drop to 4-18 while Palm Beach State moves to an impressive 22-4.

 

Miami Dade made their presence known early in this one as they jumped out to a 19-6 run to start the game, with Iva Chokaloska scoring multiple baskets throughout the run. The Sharks would keep their foot on the gas as they extended their lead to 15 to close out the first quarter.

 

The Sharks saw their 26-11 lead dwindle down as Palm Beach would go on a 13-2 run to start the second quarter. Following a media timeout, Shameir Quimby would drive to the bucket for a layup to push the lead back up to 6. Quimby would then score again with 42 seconds left as the Sharks closed out the first half leading by 4.

 

Palm Beach State would come out hot in the second half flipping the score to 47-43. The teams would then go neck and neck for the rest of the third quarter with the score being 58-57 in favor of the Sharks.

 

The fourth quarter would see the Panthers jump out to a 4-0 run, but the Sharks would answer right back to make the score 62-62. With 2:39 remaining in the last quarter, the teams would be knotted up at 70. Quimby made another tough layup to put the Sharks ahead, but the last 2 minutes were all Panthers. Blackshear would put the finishing touches for the Panthers as they closed this one out 75-72.

 

The Sharks will take on Indian River State College next Saturday as they hope to regain momentum for the final stretch of the season. The game is slated for February 10 at 2:00 PM.
