Lake Worth, FL – The Palm Beach State Men's & Women's Basketball teams finished up a successful weekend with victories over Florida State College at Jacksonville and Hillsborough Community College, respectively, bringing the teams to a combined 12-8.

The Women's team led off the weekend with a bang – a decisive, 21-point win over Hillsborough Community College – the team's home opener.  Amaya Small, Izzy Allen, and Alma Danielsson led the scoring for the Panthers – Danielsson scored 18 points and shot 75% from beyond the 3-point line; both were team highs. Maria Benitez-Zayas dropped 11 points off the bench and shot 4-5 from the field.

The game was tight in the first half, Palm Beach only led by two going into the break. However, the team pulled away in the second half, outscoring the HCC Hawks 46-27 over the final two quarters. With the game seemingly stalled at 49-45, a 3-point shot by Alma Danielsson swung the momentum in the Panthers' favor. The team went on a 7-0 run before a foul on Amaya Small allowed HCC to get back on the board. Izzy Allen and Alma Danielsson took over from that point forward, providing the Panthers with 19 points to extend the lead – putting the game well out of reach.

Nick Edwards led the team with 23 points, while also tallying five assists and five steals. Donald Green added 19 points and seven rebounds. Edwards and Green hit 15 of their combined 29 shots. Shawn Cornelious led the team with 14 rebounds.

Down by seven at halftime, the Panthers outplayed the Blue Wave in the second half—PBSC outscored FSC-J 42-28 after the half. PBSC finished with 11 assists and 13 steals. The Panthers had a good day at the free-throw line, converting 15 of 16 attempts.
