Softball Drops 2 to Miami Dade

Lake Worth, FL -- Softball shut out in 2 games versus Miami Dade, 4-0 in game #1, and 5-0 in game #2.

In game #2, Destiny Cornelius started for Palm Beach and after an early run in the 1st inning to start the game, settled down thereafter.

In the bottom of the 4th, with one out, Rileigh Manning doubled over the left fielder's head on a ball that the fielder seroiusly misjudged. The Panthers had a chance to tie the game at 1, but Leah Carman struck out on an inside pitch that tied her up as she attempted to pull back, Lauran Meadow grounded out to 1st to end the innning.

Miami Dade took control of the game with a 4-run top of the 5th. 3 singles loaded the bases and with one out, Oskarely Ochoa lined a double over a leaping Taylor Hansel into left field to drive in 2. The next batter traded places with Ochoa with another double that was crushed into the gap, 2 more runs scored. The score was 5-0. To end the threat, Lauran Meadow made a spectacular over the shoulder grab in right center to save a double.

Miami Dade threatened in each inning thereafter but failed to score.

The Panthers were able to reach base via walks but could not string together hits to score any baserunners. The game ended on a rare 5-4-3 double play on a groundball by Sydney Fugate

Palm Beach will travel to Eastern Florida next Wednesday before playing their last games of the season at home Monday April 22 at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
