Softball Drops 2 to Pasco-Hernando

Lake Worth, FL -- Palm Beach softball drops 2 games against Pasco-Hernando, 7-6 in game 1 and 7-1 in game 2.

In game #1, the Panthers fell to an early 3-0 deficit in the 1st inning. With runners at 2nd and 3rd, a 2-RBI single put Pasco-Hernando on the board. Another single would increase the lead to 3-0.

Palm Beach roared back in the bottom of the 3rd. Lauran Meadow led off the inning with a line drive double. Sophie Eisenberg and Ashley Brooker reached base to load the bases with no outs. Sydney Kadur singled, which scored one, and an errant throw from the outfield allowed an additional run to score. The Panther deficit shrunk to 1 run.  Shortstop Andrea Granados singled on a fly ball to right field to tie the game at 3. Rileigh Manning walked to load the bases for the 2nd time in the inning. Sophomore Leah Carman singled to put the Panthers ahead for the 1st time, 4-3.

In the top of the 4th, the Bobcats would answer. A sacrifice fly would tie the game at 4.

Moving to the bottom of the 5th, Rileigh Manning and Leah Carman would reach to set the stage for Taylor Hansel. Hansel sacrificed, putting runners at 2nd and 3rd. Next batter, Sydney Fugate, would smack a double to the outfield wall, scoring 2 Panthers. The Panthers would take the lead, 6-4.

In the top of the 6th, the first batter of the inning led off with a solo shot,; cutting the Panther lead to 6-5. A double, hit-by-pitch, and a sacrifice error loaded the bases for the Bobcats. A walk tied the game at 6. The next batter hit a sacrifice fly to score the Bobcats' 7th run of the game.

The Panthers had a chance to come back in the bottom of the inning. With a runner advancing to 2nd base on a sacrifice bunt, Ashley Brooker was caught in a run down trying to advance to 3rd, which ended the threat.

In game #2, with the score already 1-0 Pasco-Hernando, the Panthers would benefit from an errant throw by the catcher attempting to pick off the runner at 3rd, this tied the game at 1.

The game remained tied at 1 until the 4th. Three singles with runners in scoring position put the Bobcats up 5-1. An RBI single off of the pitcher, Destiny Cornelius, increased the lead 6-1. In the 7th, an error on a groundball by Rileigh Manning allowed the Bobcats to take a 7-1 lead.
