Softball Falls to Broward & Indian River to Begin Conference Play

On a drizzly day, Palm Beach State College Softball fell to 0-2 in the Southern Conference with losses to Broward College and Indian Ruiver State College.

In game 1, the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 2nd. Broward took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single. An pop fly on the infield that was dropped by Palm Beach would have ended the inning; however, Broward capitalized on the opportunity and scored 5 unearned runs. The score at the end of 2 was 6-0 Broward.

The Panthers rallied back in the top of the 3rd. PBSC scored 2 runs, one of which was a Sacrifice Fly by Lauran Meadow, to cut the lead to 6-2.

Essentially, this was the end of the scoring for the day, as both teams traded runs to get to our final score of 7-3.

In game 2, the Panthers were overmatched by a strong Indian River team.

Indian River scored in every inning including 13 runs in the final 2 frames.

The game was called after 5 due to the "ten run rule".
