Bio

Coach Forbes is a local product -- he grew up in Boynton Beach and graduated from Atlantic High School. Coach Forbes lettered in three varsity sports and was named Athlete of the Year in 1987. He played college baseball at Palm Beach Atlantic University. In 1989, Forbes was named to the NAIA District 25 All-Academic Team.

He began his coaching career at Florida Atlantic University as an assistant coach under legendary skipper Kevin Cooney. Forbes was hired in 1994 as the head baseball coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University. During his nine seasons at the helm, he won 244 games while losing 198 (.552). His teams qualified for the post season six times and were ranked in the NAIA National Polls top-10. Forbes then became the pitching coach at Northwood University in West Palm Beach from 2004 to 2006 under Manager Rick Smoliak.

His career with the Panthers began in 2006 under the guidance of Alex Morales as an assistant coach. When Morales became one of the chief scouts of the Washington Nationals in 2010, Forbes was elevated to the head coaching position. In 2012, Palm Beach State won the First Pitch Classic and were the Southern Conference Champions. The team finished as the FCSAA Runner Up and was ranked in the top-10 in the country.

The Panthers had a historic year in 2013. Forbes guided the team to their first FCSAA State Title since 1984 and in addition the team's first ever appearance in the NJCAA JUCO World Series. Palm Beach finished as the National Runner-Up. In 2014, the Panthers made their 3rd straight appearance in the FCSAA State Tournament finishing the year at 29-23. In 2015, PBSC was ranked as high as #6 in the nation and sporting a 41-17 record. In addition, they were again the FCSAA State Runner-up. The Panthers were also crowned the Southern Conference Champions for the 3rd time in the past 7 years. In 2017, the Panthers finished 38-15 and were the FCSAA State Runner-up. The team finished the season ranked #15 in the NJCAA National Baseball Poll. In 2018, the Panthers were ranked in the national poll and Forbes notched his 500th win as a collegiate head coach. During a COVID-shortened season in 2019-2020, Coach Forbes won his 300th game as Head Coach at Palm Beach State. In 2021, Coach Forbes led the Panthers to 31 wins; the most wins at PBSC since 2017.

In 2022, Forbes led the Panthers to a 30-16 record and the team qualified for the FCSAA region 8  tournament.  On March 7, 2022 Forbes notched his 600th career win as a collegiate head coach with a win over Hagerstown Community College.

In 2023, the Panthers overall record was  27-21 and finished as the Region 8 runner up.

For all of his accomplishments, Forbes has been named FCSAA Baseball Coach of the Year in 2013 and was also selected as the Diamond/ABCA Regional Coach of the Year. He was also chosen as the Florida Diamond Club Coach of the Year for 2013 and in the Spring of 2014 he was chosen as the Palm Beach County Coach of the Year by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Hall of Fame. To compliment those awards, Coach Forbes has been named the Southern Conference Coach of the Year two times.

Kyle Forbes has been an associate scout for three major league organizations (Milwaukee, Cleveland and Atlanta). Coach Forbes received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in education from Florida Atlantic University. He and his wife Tammy reside in Boynton Beach with their two daughters, Jordan and Jessica.
