Baseball Wins Wild One Against ASA Miami

Lake Worth, FL -- Palm Beach State Baseball wins their 5th game on the year after banging out 14 hits and scoring 5 runs in the final 3 frames.

Palm Beach fell behind early on an RBI double by #31 Angelo Piloto. Issac Marte tied the game in the 3rd inning with an RBI single scoring Matthew Presutti. The Panthers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th on a 2-RBI double by Edinson Renteria and an RBI single by Matthew Presutti.

ASA would answer right back, scoring 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning to take their second lead of the night 7-5. 2 home runs were the culprits of the 5-run outburst. Palm Beach starter Yordy Cabrera retired the first two batters of the inning but then promptly gave up 3 straight base hits, including a 2-run home run. With the Silver Storm inching closer, coach Kyle Forbes turned to Ruiari Murphy to get the last out of the inning. Murphy was promptly greeted by Brian Garcia who tied the game on the first pitch he saw, lacing a single through the right side of the infield to tie the game at 5-5. On the very next pitch, Murphy surrendered a mammoth home run to Yosley Veitia on what looked to be a first-pitch fastball that Veitei was sitting on. Angelo Piloto flied out to end the inning.

After 2 scoreless half innings, the Panthers re-took the lead on a 2-RBI double by Sophomore transfer EJ Doskow. Doskow, who spent his freshman year at Stetson University, had a huge day at the plate, driving in 3 runners and providing clutch hits when the team needed it most.

ASA again closed the gap right away, tying the game on fielder's choice.

Palm Beach was able to put ASA away for good, loading the bases before plating 2 runs. Matthew Presutti and EJ Doskow both drove in runners. Presutti has proved to be a valuable addition for the team, driving in 2 runners in 4 at bats in his first game in the "clean up" spot.

Marcos Escalera closed out the 9th, allowing only 1 single, en route to his first win on the year.

The team will rest on Sunday before returning home on Monday to take on Keiser University at 2:00.
