Baseball Falls to Miami Dade Again, 14-6

Lake Worth, FL -- The score is misleading, this game was closer than it would appear; yet, the Panthers did drop this game 14-6 to a very good Miami Dade team.

Starter Yordy Cabrera was dominant out of the gate, shutting down the Miami Dade offense for 3 innings. However, Palm Beach fell behind 2-0 in the top of the 4th on a double to the right-center gap after a single and a walk. They say walks kill, and that is certainly the case in this instance.

The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the 5th, Reid Zitzelberg homered on the first pitch he saw to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the top of the 6th, with 2 runners on, a misplay by 3rd baseman Ricky Neyman allowed 2 runners to score and the batter, Bryan Sanjuro, to advance to 2nd. After a single, a wild pitch would score Sanjuro from 3rd, increasing the lead for Miami Dade, 5-1. Ralphy Almanzar-Rosario scored on a passed ball by Tal Erel and Nico Martinez-Bautista singled on a groundball to shortstop Reid Zitzelberg to increase the Sharks' lead, 7-1. After a walk, Miachael Demo would come on in relief and prompty get Luis Guerrero to groundout to 2nd, but that allowed the run to score from 3rd. The lead at this point was 8-1.

In the bottom of the inning, Ray Sanchez walked and Ricky Neyman doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd for Gabriel Marinez. Marinez doubled on a groundball just inside the 3rd base bag to score both Sanchez and Neyman.

In the bottom of the 7th, with Tal Erel on base, David Munoz destroyed a fastball down the middle for a 2-run shot to left field. The Panthers were now within striking distance, 8-5. With 2 runners on, Andrew Martinez doubled to center to score 1, all of the sudden the Panthers made a game of it.

However, Miami Dade hit 2 big-time home runs in the 9th inning to put the game out of reach. A 2-run shot and a 3-run shot, both off of Michael Demo, increased the Sharks' lead to 8 and they would not look back.

Palm Beach travels to Miami Dade tomorrow to wrap up the regular season. They will play at 1:00 in Kendall, FL.
