Baseball Falls to Miami Dade, 8-1

Lake Worth, FL -- Baseball falls on the road to Miami Dade in the first game of the final series of the regular season, 8-1.

The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on a Ricky Neyman solo home run. However, that was the extent of the scoring for Palm Beach on the afternoon.

Miami Dade scored 2 in the 2nd on a Sujel Arias-Auzon single, which put the Sharks in front for the first time on the afternoon. They would not trail again.

The game was close until the bottom of the 6th, when Miami Dade scored 5 to put them ahead by a comfortable 7-1 lead. 2 walks set the stage for Mason Stevens, who singled to center and 1 run scored on an error by center fielder Jisjar Clotida. Next batter, Bryan Sanjuro grounded out to bring home the runner from third to drive home the 2nd run of the inning. Ralphy Almanzar-Rosario singled to shortstop Reid Zitzelberg to drive in the runner from third. Sujel Arias-Auzon singled to right field to score the final 2 runs of the inning.

Starter Shane Roberts lasted 5.1 innings but could not get out of the 6th. He allowed 6 earned, walked 2, and struck out 2. Reliever Tom Green came in for Roberts in the 6th and pitched the rest of the way. He allowed 1 run over 2.2 innings, allowed 4 hits, 0 walks, and struck out 2.


The Panthers will be back on Friday for their final home game of the season, a 3:00 start at the Lake Worth campus.
