Palm Beach Drops 2nd Straight Against Broward

Lake Worth, FL -- Palm Beach battles back from 2-1 deficit but cannot close the door as Broward takes game 2 of the 3-game series.

There was not much offense on the day to speak of as starters Roger Ceballos and Jean Toro generally limited hitting. Although, if there was one reason to point to as to why the Panthers lost this game, one could point to the 10 walks allowed by Panther pitchers. Ceballos struck out 8 over 4.1 innings, allowed 2 runs, but allowed 4 walks.

PBSC trailed 2-1 heading into the 6th before Ray Sanchez hit a 2-run double to center field that put the Panthers on top 3-2. Sanchez was essentially the entire Panther offense for the day as he hit a solo home run earlier in the game to tie the score at 1-1.

With the score 3-2 in the 7th, Alex Dominguez, who came on in relief of Ceballos, loaded the bases before giving way to Tom Green. Green threw a wild pitch, which allowed the runner at 3rd to score, tying the game at 3-3.

In the top of the 8th, Broward took the lead. With 1 out and 2 batters that reached via walks, Green threw a fastball that was crushed for a 3-run home run, which put Broward on top 6-3.

With 2 on in the bottom of the inning, Reid Zitzelberg grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning and the threat.

The Panthers went 1-2-3 in the 9th to end the game.
