Baseball Slugs 17 Hits in Offensive-Powered Victory

Lake Worth, FL -- Baseball wins their 18th game in prime fashion, defeating ASA Miami 11-7.

After a 1-2-3 top of the 1st, the Panthers came out hitting in the bottom of the inning. Jisjar Clotida and Noah Orlando singled to start the inning; Mason Doolittle walked to load the bases. Ray Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score the Panthers' first run of the game. Joe Smith hit a weak groundball to the pitcher, who threw to home plate, but Noah Orlando avoided the tag and the Panthers took a 2-0 lead. With a runner at 3rd, Gabriel Marinez would groundout to 2nd base to plate the Panthers' 3rd run of the game.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Jefrey Encarnacion led off the inning with a bunt single to third base. Ricky Neyman hit a groundball double just over the 3rd base bag to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Jisjar Clotida grounded out to short to plate the Panthers' 4th run of the day. Noah Orlando singled bringing home Ricky Neyman to increase the Palm Beach lead by 5. Ray Sanchez singled on a groundball scoring Orlando, but was thrown out advancing to 2nd ending the inning.

Moving to the bottom of the 4th, Joe Smith singled home Mason Doolittle and Ray Sanchez to increase the Palm Beach lead 8-0.

Palm Beach starting pitcher Michael Demo did not allow a hit until the 4th inning. He allowed just 3 hits and 1 run over his 5 innings of work.

Reliever Tom Green took over in the 6th and allowed 4 runs in his 1 inning of work. He allowed 4 hits scattered around 1 error, which cut the Palm Beach lead to 8-5.

In the 8th, with Shelby Frazier on the mound, a leadoff single and a stikeout victim that reached on a dropped 3rd strike, set the stage for ASA's Yusniel Aguilar. A wild pitch scored the runner from 3rd and Aguilar would double putting runners at 2nd and 3rd. Roger Ceballos relieved Frazier and forced the 1st batter he faced to fly to left field, scoring 1 run. Yusniel Aguilar would get picked off by Ceballos at 3rd on a brilliant step-off move that fooled the runner and ended the inning.

With the score 8-7 Palm Beach, the bats had to come alive, and come alive they did. Jisjar Clotida destroyed a 1st pitch fastball to Right Field for a solo shot, his 3rd of the year. 3 batters later, Ray Sanchez lined a ball over the fence for a 2-run home run, increasing the Palm Beach lead 11-7. Roger Ceballos pitched a clean 9th to earn the save.

Palm Beach improves their record to 18-12, 6-6 in conference play.

The Panthers will be back at it tomorrow at 3:00 versus St. Thomas JV.
