Beach Volleyball Wins Region 8 Championship, 2nd in a row

The road for the Lady Panthers beach volleyball team to defend their National Championship has taken one step closer after winning the FCSAA/Region 8 Championship.  The Lady Panthers went 3-0 in the Region Championship, clinching a berth to the NJCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship on Friday evening.  The 2 teams who make the Region 8 Championship final clinch automatic berths to the NJCAA tournament. 

The Lady Panthers swept St. John's River State College 5-0 in their opening game on Friday, which advanced the Lady Panthers to the winner bracket semi-final.  The Lady Panthers need a 3-2 win versus SCF-Manatee in the winner brack semi-final to clinch a spot in the Championship game and one of two automatic berths at stake in the FCSAA/Region 8 Championship.  The Lady Panthers swept Lake-Sumter State College 3-0 in the championship game.

By winning the FCSAA/Region 8 Championship, Head Coach Drew Colvin has been named the FCSAA/Region 8 Coach of the Year.

The Lady Panthers await the bracket reveal on Tuesday April 23rd at 3:30pm to find out their path to defending their NJCAA National Championship.
